After collecting data for 6 months, it is very clear that online continues to hold the top spot when it comes to surveys that are for public consumption. More than half of all releases are conducted using an online methodology. IVR is second followed by telephone.
IVR is the second most used methodology that drives public releases but it is noteworthy that IVR survey releases tend to have fewer questions. On average, a release based on an IVR survey had 5.4 questions compared with 12.8 for a release based on an online survey. It appears that those using online surveys are able to ask more questions. This is interesting since the more questions that form the basis of the release the more information, particularly contextual information that the public can be exposed to.
